1821 Map:
Map shows the area that would include Barry County before Barry County was created. Area was then a part of Wayne County. Map is from Campbell's Gazeteer of Missouri.

1831 Map:
Map shows the area that would include Barry County before Barry County was created. Area was then a part of Jackson County. Map is by S. Augustus Mitchell.

1835 Map:
Map shows the area that would include Barry County before Barry County was created. Area was then a part of Osage and Ripley Counties. Map is from an unknown publisher.

1838 Map of Barry County, Missouri shows the following location:
Mt. Pleasant *
This the first map to show Barry County after its creation. Barry County then included a large area of southwest Missouri and would later be divided further into a number of counties. Map is by T. C. Bradford.

1839 Map of Barry County, Missouri shows the following locations:

This map also shows Barry County before being divided into a number of counties. Map is from The American Atlas of 1839.

This map is the first in this series to show the railroad between Exeter and Cassville. Built in 1896, the Cassville & Exeter Railroad (C& E) operated until 1956. With only five miles and four hundred feet of track, the railroad had the distinction of being the shortest railroad line in the nation and was featured in Ripley’s “Believe It Or Not” and numerous publications.
